Submit ReviewDr. Susan Solomon’s research in the 1980’s confirmed that the presence of chlorofluorocarbons was largely responsible for the hole in the ozone and that led consumers, chemical companies and manufacturers to a path for fixing it. For her work, Solomon was awarded the National Medal of Science, the prestigious Blue Planet Prize, shared a Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 with Al Gore and was inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame in 2009. Solomon Glacier in Antarctica was named for her.
