The Non-Prophets, Episode 21.46 airing Sunday, 11-13-2022 featuring Richard Gilliver, Jason Friedman, Cynthia McDonald and Kelley LaughlinIt was once postulated: does a bear crap in the woods? Well I would like to know if the thing I just stepped in was Cryptid Poo or is it really some New-age Woo? Join Richard Gilliver and the amazing panel of Cynthia McDonald, Kelley Laughlin, and newcomer Jason Friedman as they delve deep into this week's topics. Let’s get into it.First up, mind over matter? Nature vs. nurture? What are the best psychological approaches? In the past experts would segment things out. Breaking things into nice little packages from a subset of people who they were able to talk to. Human’s are a bit messier than that. So we explore more of the humanistic approach. Is it perfect? Maybe not, but humans are very complicated. Even if some claim they are simple. It’s just another tool to put in the tool box when dealing with people.Next up, BLAME CANADA! In this case British Columbia as they are quickly becoming the most secular province in Canada. We explore how that has happened, get some takes from religious leaders in the area, and see if this is a sign of religion in the future for the Americas. I for one think it has to do with all the science Canadians need to deploy to keep themselves alive through all those cold winter months. Then our very own Cynthia McDonald discusses her time at The Women of Color Beyond Belief conference. This year was not a great time for women in general, and especially women of color. With terrible court decision and trigger laws that will end up in the deaths of countless women, these brave many will get their voices heard.Lastly, You are walking in the woods. There is no one around, and your phone is on 1% charge. Out of the corner of your eye, you spot something. (Big Foot?) He’s walking around a nest camera focused on some eagles. You quickly try to snap a photo, but as you do the screen goes dark. You run to your car hastily unlock the door. Getting in you grasp for the charger and with shaking hands plug it up. The phone comes to life and you see it. The last photo you have taken. It’s blurry, but you now know the truth! Then some guy in a ghillie suit comes up and knocks on your window asking, “hey did you see where I dropped that turkey?” Sorry, no big foot for you this time!Well that will about do it for this week.Segment 1: Humanistic ApproachHumanistic Approach Simply Psychology, By Saul McLeod, 2020 http://bit.ly/3UwWX2qHumanistic Psychology’s Approach to Wellbeing: 3 TheoriesPositivepsychology.com, by Tiffany Sauber Millacci, Ph.D. 9 Jul 2022 http://bit.ly/3UyPdNeSegment 2: Secular British Columbia on the riseCensus data shows B.C. is the most secular province in CanadaCBC News, By Josh Grant, Oct. 30, 2022http://bit.ly/3O4qZbhModeling the Future of Religion in AmericaPew Research Center, Sept, 13 2022 http://bit.ly/3TvRZBI5 facts about religion in CanadaPew Research Center, By Michael Lipka, July 1, 2019http://bit.ly/3fX0EQ2Segment 3: Humanist Women of Color Gather The Humanist, BY ANNA CLAY, 6 OCTOBER 2022http://bit.ly/3UGXleqSegment 4: Proof that Bigfoot is real?Exemplore News By Cassandra Yorgey, Nov. 2 2022http://bit.ly/3E3A5ApBigfoot May Have Been Spotted By an Eagle Nest Observation Camera http://bit.ly/3hzSJbFSpecies Spotlight: Top 10 cryptids of the Pacific NorthwestThe Cardinal Times, By Owen Adams, Jan. 5, 2022 http://bit.ly/3g47e75Don't like ads?
