In May of 2018, after having problems with the caretaker of his Rains County, Texas ranch, 57-year-old George Chronis headed down from his home in suburban Chicago, Illinois to handle the situation. It wasn’t just a business trip though; the overworked doctor with multiple Sclerosis also sought a break from the stress of life as an obstetrician / gynecologist. He hadn’t been at the ranch for three years, so he was shocked to arrive and find that the bunkhouse there had been inhabited by someone unknown. After calling his wife and discussing the situation, the bunkhouse burned to the ground and George was found dead...but not from injuries that resulted from the fire.
