Over the Christmas week we’re doing things a little differently. Today is the second part of a special two part podcast on the life and works of Ukrainian poet, writer and artist, Taras Shevchenko.

In the last episode, we heard about the historical period in which the young Shevchenko grew up. We heard about the boy who was born a serf but went to St Petersburg for his education.

Lyubov spoke about his poetry and ended the episode with his arrest by the Tsarist powers. That’s where we pick up his story.
