Submit ReviewIt’s Friday afternoon and that means a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio is wrapped up, edited into a masterpiece, and set to get you ready for the weekend. This week, we looked at Oscar Klefbom's need for surgery, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' next deal, and the NHL Draft.
To kick off this week's podcast, we jumped in with a look at what Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' next contract might look like after news broke that the team and player are already working on an extension. Would it make sense to pay him as high as $7.5 million or does it have to be lower than that? From there, we looked at the Oscar Klefbom situation and what the Oilers might need to do if he's on the shelf for an extended portion of the upcoming season. That led us into discussing the Oliver Ekman-Larsson rumours that have been flying around over the past week and whether or not it's a big deal that he refused to waive his no-trade clause to come to Edmonton. From there, we looked at the NHL Draft that will be happening next week and broke down some of the prospects that will be available when the Oilers are on the clock at 14th overall. Do they need to take a forward in that spot? Would they take Askarov if he's still on the board? Next up, we looked at the rumour that Mikhail Sergachev could be available in Tampa Bay and what kind of package the Oilers would have to put together to make it happen. Lastly, we looked at what the 2020-21 season might look like after Frank Seravalli wrote a piece on TSN about a rotating bubble concept that would see teams bouncing out of hub cities every couple of weeks.
