Atlanta police have charged a suspect in the spa shootings, which comes amid a wave of violence against Asian Americans, spurred in part by racist and xenophobic rhetoric surrounding the pandemic. But the suspect claims the shootings were motived by his self-described sexual addiction. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization reports that about one in three women, globally, have faced physical or sexual violence at least once in their lives. We discuss the shootings and violence against women. Want to support 1A? Give to your local public radio station and subscribe to this podcast. Have questions? Find us on Twitter @1A.
