Welcome to The epDate, where we bring you the latest in podcasting for podcast people! On this week’s show, we’ll explore the latest news in the podcasting world, some podcasts you should be checking out this week, and our podcaster spotlight, featuring Tim Whiffen, the host of Blind Insights, That Wall Street Guy and STRATEGIKON. But first, here are two fresh news headlines from the podcasting world. World Podcast News Apple shuts down iTunes Apple will be shutting down iTunes as the tech giant moves into a new era. All of Apple’s plans will be revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference in California, happening on the 4th of June. However, it is expected that Apple will announce its plans to update its operating systems as well as taking a new approach to apps. It is believed that iTunes will be replaced by 3 major apps -- Music, TV and...you guessed it... Podcasts! Libsyn partners with Entercom / SoundCloud acquire Repost Network Popular podcast hosts Libsyn and SoundCloud have each made significant announcements in recent weeks. The Pittsburg-based Libsyn announced it has partnered with Entercom, a leading media and entertainment company and one of the two largest radio broadcasters in the United States. This move will make all libsyn podcasts available on RADIO.COM -- Entercom’s integrated digital platform -- popular among US audiences. The Berlin-based SoundCloud has announced the acquisition of Repost Network, a leading rights management and distribution company. This will allow SoundCloud users access to Repost Network’s invite-only tools and services, which include analytics dashboards, content protection and streaming distribution, among other features. That’s what’s making waves in the podcast world this week, now here are a few show suggestions for your podcast cravings. Podcast Suggestions: This week we’re looking at a few Australian comedy shows.   Wilosophy Comedian Wil Anderson asks smart people stupid questions and tries to find out the meaning of life on his show Wilosophy. His latest guest is Andy Lee, one half of the comedy duo Hamish & Andy. Wil and Andy have a fascinating conversation about the long-running feud between Wil and the upcoming Hamish & Andy in their early careers. Broriginals The ‘Broriginals’ podcast is a satirical advice-style comedy show co-hosted by Travis and Texas De Vries. The two use their 80, 000+ years of cultural heritage to give advice to listeners on how to be a better Aboriginal and maybe a better Human Being. Travis and Texas answer questions from their listeners and investigate other strange oddities from the internet. The duo does warn, however, that their advice should in no uncertain terms, ever be followed.   Aunty Donna The Aunty Donna Podcast celebrate their 150th episode in style with a special show! Recorded live from the absurdist comedian's office space, the group discuss a variety of topics and thank their loyal listeners for sticking with them throughout the journey...well sort of. A note to epDate listeners - this is not safe of work.      Check all these podcasts out on your favourite podcast app today!
