Osiris stands in solidarity with those who are protesting police violence and racial injustice. Black lives matter. We encourage our listeners to donate to organizations working toward change. There are links to several organizations that we support in the show notes. 

We are a company that celebrates a diverse, equitable, and just culture. We are able to celebrate music every day across multiple podcasts because of the artists of color who have created, and continue to create, the music that we love. 

Our company, and the podcast industry, can do better. We will work harder to amplify the voices of people who create the diverse world we live in, and those who are working towards real change. And we will be focusing on our own commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

A couple things we want to share today. 

Music is responding. We’ve seen a lot of encouraging reactions to the current situation by people involved with music. Of course there was Killer Mike’s powerful speech as part of the Atlanta mayor’s press conference. Across the country, music venues and theaters are opening to aid protestors, including 930 Club and Arena Stage in DC, giving access to restrooms, food, and snacks.

Jon Batiste led a march of musicians through New York City over the weekend. Dozens of artists have joined the protests, and many more have donated millions of dollars in support of reform efforts.

Bandcamp announced that this coming Juneteenth (June 19) and every Juneteenth hereafter, for any purchase you make on Bandcamp, they’ll donate 100% of their share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. They’re also highlighting artists and labels who are donating to organizations on their website.

Alan Evans on Eric Krasno Plus One. On a special episode of Plus One, Kraz talks with drummer and bandmate, fellow Soulive founding member, Alan Evans. Alan & Eric discuss the ongoing protests against police brutality & racism, the current political climate in the US, and related personal experiences, including a story about Alan’s dad’s protesting of racist treatment as a college football player. The two also spend some time diving into Alan’s career and early memories of playing together in Soulive.
