The Chicago White Sox (76-77) lost to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday by a score of 4-1. It was Fan Appreciate Day at the ball park and the fans were unfortunately treated to a disappointing effort. The White Sox followed up getting swept by the Cleveland Guardians by getting swept by the last place Detroit Tigers. It was the first time since 1989 that the White Sox went winless during a homestand of at least six games. During the weekend, the White Sox announced that Tony La Russa will not return to manage the team this season. La Russa's doctors did not give him clearance to return to the dugout. What does that mean for 2023? General manager, Rick Hahn, has remained quiet on the issue of La Russa coming back next year and will wait until the off season to address the issue. The White Sox are now a game under .500 as we head into the last week of September and battle the Minnesota Twins for 2nd place in a division the White Sox won comfortably one year ago.
