The Chicago White Sox (76-72) lost to the Cleveland Guardians in 11 innings on Tuesday by a score of 10-7. It was a must win game and the White Sox could not complete the comeback. Sox starter, Dylan Cease, did not have very good command nor did he keep his pitch count in check but he did not allow much offense. In six innings, he gave up 4 hits and only one run. White Sox offense was flat most of the night. they took advantage of some sloppy Cleveland defense and Jose Abreu had a clutch hit in the 10th inning but it was the White Sox bullpen that truly fell apart. White Sox relievers gave up nine runs in the biggest game of the year. The lone White Sox trade deadline acquisition, Jake Diekman, gave up five runs in the 11th inning to seal the deal for the Cleveland Guardians.
