In his first full season in charge, Ossie Ardiles’ Spurs side looked to establish an exciting and intoxicating brand of football based on the technical skill of the European talent they acquired that summer. Ilie Dumitrescu and Jurgen Klinsmann were among those in this new-look, attacking Spurs side that played out a cracking match against Trevor Francis’ Sheffield Wednesday – featuring seven goals and one of the most infamous celebrations in modern English football.
