On today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, historian Tom Holland joins us to discuss one of the standout moments in English football history: England 1-0 Belgium from Italia '90!

With travelling England fans in near-penal exile on the island of Sardinia, Italian authorities were incredibly anxious throughout the entire tournament about the prospect of more of the hooliganism that had plagued previous England away games. After Bobby Robson’s side stuttered through their opener against Ireland, he changed to a back three – which immediately paid dividends. They escaped out of their group and then knocked out a Belgium side who probably deserved to win the game, thanks to that cracking volley from David Platt.
