The Barrio Fridge in East Harlem, New York, was started during the pandemic summer of 2020 by best friends Darrielle Carter and Seantell Campbell, who wanted to serve their community with free food during a time of crisis. Today there are two fridges, and two brand new apps: one for Apple and one for Android. On this episode of Tech BItes, host Jennifer Leuzzi talks with Darrielle Carter about how to start a community fridge, and how app technology helps them manage the fridge, volunteers, and grow their 501(c)3 non-profit. Episode 235 is made possible by the generosity of Wisconsin Cheese.
