Submit ReviewIt’s Friday afternoon and that can only mean one thing — a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio to help you finish off your week with an hour of all things Edmonton Oilers. On this week’s show, we looked at some bold Oilers predictions, injuries to Yamamoto and Kassian, Ask the Idiots, and a whole lot more.
To kick off the podcast, we got started with a big dreams conversation where we threw out some of our boldest takes and predictions for the upcoming season. Whether it was points predictions for Mike Smith or the Oilers having a powerplay that makes other teams cower in fear, we, along with a bunch of podcast listeners, broke down our pie-in-the-sky predictions for the 2021-22 NHL season. Next up, we looked at the pressure that's falling on Kailer Yamamoto's shoulders as some folks in Oil Country are a little bit down on the former 22nd overall pick after what was undoubtedly a tough season for him in 2021. Is it fair to lump pressure on such a young guy or is he in a spot in the lineup where it's fair to have heightened expectations? From there, we talked about Zack Kassian's unfortunate injury from last night's game after he hit his head on the ice following a fight with Vancouver's Zack McEwan. While there's no question that it was a scary incident that was ripe with bad luck, we wondered whether or not Kassian needs to fight as part of his game to be effective or if it's simply a part of who he is and how he got to the NHL in the first place. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots before winding down with the best and worst moments from the past seven days.
