And there came a day unlike any other, when Earth’s mightiest heroes were united against a common threat! On that day Avengers: Infinity War was released… This is the nineteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the third Avengers movie following The Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Infinity War features the biggest ensemble cast yet, including many returning characters from previous MCU movies. It serves as the first crossover for the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, as they attempt to stop Thanos from collecting the Infinity Stones. Having acquired the Power Stone from the planet Xandar, Thanos and his children (collectively known as the Black Order), aggressively seek out the remaining Infinity Stones. Thanos plans to use the power of the completed Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of the universe – a plan he justifies as necessary to ensure the survival of a universe threatened by overpopulation. The Avengers unite on different fronts, protecting Vision’s Mind Stone in Wakanda and Doctor Strange’s Time Stone on planet Titan. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led to this. Ten years of the MCU has led to this review.
