Gal Gadot is back as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman in this superhero sequel set in 1984 – as the title of the movie suggests. Directed once again by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 (or WW84) is the sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman and the ninth installment in the DC Extended Universe – based of course on the DC Comics character of the same name. Wonder Woman 1984 is unique in that after months of delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was released simultaneously in theatres and digitally on the steaming service HBO Max. Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) lives quietly among mortals in the vibrant, sleek 1980s – an era of excess driven by the pursuit of having it all. Though she has come into her full powers, she maintains a low profile by curating ancient artifacts, and only performing heroic acts incognito. But soon, Diana will have to muster all her strength, wisdom, and courage as she and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) find themselves squaring off against Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Cheetah (Kristen Wiig).
