We’ve had shark movies before. Defining the horror blockbuster genre with Jaws. Bigger and smarter sharks in Deep Blue Sea. B-Grade – We’ve had sharks versus octopuses, sharks versus robots, sharks versus tornadoes. And now we have a giant shark… versus Jason Statham.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub, and loosely based on the 1997 book Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten, The Meg stars Jason Statham as he takes on a 75-foot-long (23m) megalodon shark.
Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) the world’s greatest deep-sea rescue diver, finds himself in the vast ocean realm of Marian Trench, five years after a failed rescue mission. An underwater research facility called Mana One, have unleashed the Megalodon, and part of their crew is trapped at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. It’s the scientists against the Meg. It’s the Meg against Jason Statham. Who will survive? Who will win?
