On Episode 8 of Scream at the Screens “Texas Frightmare Weekend”, the panel focuses on the Horror Convention that occurred April 30 – May 1st 2016 in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.

They open the show with a celebrity drop from David Arquette, whom Ricardo shamelessly adores, and a shout out to a fellow Podcast: Return to Camp Blood, that covers anything and everything “Friday the 13thReturn to Camp Blood

However, it seems impossible to not mention the other event of the weekend; the resurrection of John Snow. Tiffany expresses her distaste for the obvious red witch resurrection, while Wade supports it.

Since the episode was recorded on May 4th, Star Wars love is shared, with Tasty Tyler yet again exposing his “Under a Rock” outlook on pop culture movies.

The crew is happy to agree that the red band trailer for “Bad Moms” looks awesome even if they’re not sure if they can define it as a “Chick Flick.” Check out the trailer Here

Moving on to Texas Frightmare Weekend, kudos to the host of Texas Frightmare Weekend, Hyatt Regency DFW hotel, even if we still had to pay for airport parking rates. Also, much love is given to the oddly positive cops who directed traffic around the convention guests for hours out in the sun.

We begin with the inevitable discussion of the best costumes, with the general consensus that clowns are fucking scary, with an awesome Penny Wise as our top pick.

Go to the AstroPanda Productions Facebook Page for photos of Cosplay, Actors and Vendors and see if you agree. Also, please like our page and become part of the Panda Crew.

Some of the best and most elaborate costumes were representing two year round haunted houses in the DFW area:

Reindeer Manor Halloween Park

Dark Hour Haunted House

The crew was happy to chat with independent production companies as we met several on Saturday and even interviewed one group Lucky Chucky Productions on their movie Getting Schooled. An upcoming comedic horror movie that actually features Ron Jeremy in a role where his penis doesn’t co-star.

They then suggested the panel go and visit Bloody Bill Productions to discuss their movie “Circus of the Dead”, which looks genuinely frightening.

Followed by Greeks Productions who has a line up of movies including Butcher Boys from the writer/producer of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

There were also two well known horror writers Thommy Hutson, who wrote “Never Sleep Again” (the Elm Street Legacy) and Mikhail Lerma and his Z-Plan series, that chronicles a soldiers life through a Zombie apocalypse.

Leaving the crew to finish their review with celebrity encounters, which was pretty damn dismal outside of the David Arquette drop, but the paparazzi game was strong and there are several pictures of all those we wished to interview.

Other podcasters were also in attendance such as Metal Hand of God Podcast and BSxcluded.

Our listeners are also invited to email and review Scream at the Screens if they want to get their hands on some left over swag, such as horror themed buttons and a custom made AstroPanda Frightmare poster.

For the next episode of SATS the panel will be covering the much anticipated Captain America: Civil War.

Tylers Take will of course include Marvel Universe movies:

  • Iron Man
  • Captain America
  • Thor
  • Antman
