It’s the Largest Fiesta of This Particular Season! With NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV and SummerSlam on the horizon, it’s time for us to “feel the heat” in more ways than one.

Dave Meltzer: The Human Furnace

Dave Meltzer is certainly feeling the heat from WWE wrestlers after an errant joke about Peyton Royce raised their ire. The WWE stars, of course, raised the ire of other wrestlers and internet fans alike. Some wrestlers like Trent Barretta felt like people were piling onto Meltzer and attacking him even after he apologized. Some fans felt like the WWE’s talent should’ve been speaking up against WWE for things like “Piggy James” and the Saudi Arabia incident.

NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV Rundown

Each of us picked one match to focus on, running down the build-up, the stakes of the match, and our prediction for the winner. Those matches are:

The Undisputed Era vs. Moustache Mountain

These two teams are 1-1 against each other. The Brits defeated TUE for the NXT Tag Titles at the NXT UK Championship Special. TUE won the belts back the following week during an NXT TV Taping when Kyle O’Reilly’s kneebar on Trent Seven forced Tyler Bate to throw in the towel.

Velvteen Dream vs. EC3

Another match that stems from an incident at the NXT UK Championship Special. Velvteen Dream ran off on EC3 during a tag match with Aleister Black and Ricochet. Ec3 hasn’t been able to let that go, causing both men to engage in a war of words, egos, and pool fighting. Yes, there was a pool involved.

Tomasso Ciampa (C) vs. Johnny Gargano

This is the third straight Takeover meeting between these two men, but it’s their fourth match overall in their NXT tenure (counting the Cruiserweight Classic, Gargano leads 2-1). Ciampa’s actions in their previous Takeover encounter has pushed Johnny Wrestling to the brink of insanity. Johnny’s state of mind played into Ciampa’s hands as Johnny pretty much handed Ciampa the NXT Title. This was originally supposed to be a triple threat match, but an injury to Aleister Black has turned this into a last man standing match.

SummerSlam

AJ Styles (C) vs. Samoa Joe

This match is for the WWE Championship. This match should be incredible. Of course, we thought that about the Nakamura/Styles match at WrestleMania. One of the issues we had with this feud is that its tone increased dramatically. Joe never really seemed to be one for playing mind games leading into a match, so to have him go straight to the family angle so quick was very jarring. In any regard, this should be one of the best matches of the entire weekend.

Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

This match has been built up over the course of eight long years, beginning in the original NXT.

This also has the potential for being the best match of the weekend. There’s no other match, save for Ciampa/Gargano, with this much built up animosity and heat behind it. It feels like Miz should win here, but either man winning would be fine with me.

The B-Team (C) vs. The Revival

John thinks this match is going to be really fun and his likes their theme. That’s it. That’s the end of the analysis.
