The Swedish psych-prog rock band music.com/">Dungen has been making records since 2001, but 2016's Häxan, ("The Witch,") is their first all-instrumental record. It's full of vignettes from their original score to the 1926 silent film The Adventures of Prince Achmed (said to be the oldest surviving animated film.) Swirling and fuzzed-out walls of reverbed guitar sounds, crisp with drums, at times replete with organ, are meant to conjure and accompany animated silhouettes from the Prince’s journey on a flying horse. Dungen joined us in the studio to play some of these instrumentals back in 2017.
