Swedish fintech company Klarna revealed that over 87% of its workforce, including non-technical departments such as communications, marketing, and legal, are using generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in their daily work. Klarna's in-house AI assistant, Kiki, is utilized by 85% of employees and is credited with responding to around 2,000 queries per day. Klarna's adoption of AI has contributed to its profitability, with the company reporting its first quarterly profit in four years. The use of AI tools has also led to significant cost savings, with Klarna estimating that its AI chatbot has saved $40 million by performing the work of 700 full-time customer service jobs.
