Captain Marcus Asante at the Helm.

Greetings Podcast Fans! This episode we catch up with former guest and friend of the show Marcus Asante. He’s a Baltimore area sailor, History Buff, Community Leader, and Founder of the Universal Sailing Club. Now working with Red Beard Sailing, Marcus is pairing his passions and expertise in Paddling and Sailing with his love of promoting access to the water and nature by representing high quality and high performance inflatable sailing and paddle craft at Red Beard Sailing.

Red Beard Sailing was founded by Alex Caslow and his wife, and now the team has expanded to include Marcus and Rob Deane, Chesapeake sail racer and founder of the Chesapeake Experience (chesx.org). All three of them are former guests on this podcast.

Marcus and I spoke earlier this summer when I was looking for Marina recommendations for Sailing Libra skipper Ryan Rayfield. He was telling me about all of the cool stuff he was getting into, and I suggested that we chat for the podcast, and here we are!

Marcus talks about getting involved with Red Beard, a recent RV trade show up in Hershey, Pa, the upcoming Annapolis Sailboat Show, plans going forward in expanding the business, the product lines, and how fun it is sailing these inflatable performance boats. We also chat about his trip to West Africa to rehab a small power boat on the Gambia River, and the 20th anniversary of the Universal Sailing club in Baltimore.
