For the last three years, Pat Forde has been a senior writer at Sports Illustrated. A native of Colorado Springs, Forde’s journalism career started upon his arrival at the University of Missouri. After nearly two decades at the Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky, he’s spent the last decade writing college sports for Yahoo and then SI. Forde joins the Short Time Wrestling Podcast to give his unique perspective on being a national sportswriter who actually has that understanding of the world of the Olympic-sports athlete at the college level. His kids competed in swimming, with his daughter Brooke a medal-winning swimmer in Tokyo at the 2020 Olympic Games. We’ll talk to Pat about getting into the field, his podcast with colleagues Ross Dellenger and Dan Wetzel and things we need to keep an eye on from the NCAA Transformation Committee and the struggles the athletes we know about deal with.
