Directed by Martin Campbell, The Mask of Zorro is the 1998 swashbuckler film based on the character of the masked vigilante Zorro created by Johnston McCulley. That Film Stew's Luke and Comiczone's Jae check out the 1919 cape and hat wearing pulp figure, known for carving the initial "Z" on his defeated foes, and other objects to sign his work. The original Zorro, Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins), escapes from prison to find his long-lost daughter (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and avenge the death if his wife at the hands of the corrupt governor Rafael Montero (Stuart Wilson). He is aided by his successor (Antonio Banderas), who is pursuing his own vendetta against the governor's right-hand man while falling in love with de la Vega's daughter.
