Tonight’s readings come from The Little Dauphin. Translated from the German of Franz Hoffman by George P Upton. Published in 1905, the book looks back on the early childhood of Louis Charles, the second son of Louis XVI. I wasn’t aware specifically of this aspect of French history, but Louis XVI was the last king of France before the French Revolution which means that Louis Charles was destined to face an interesting life with unknown challenges.
Hello to all of the French listeners and apologies in advance for any mispronunciations in the reading.
