Some of the most gifted people in the Catholic church are not cardinals, bishops or scholars, not even humble parish priests - they’re sitting unrecognised in the back pews…and they need to be mobilised. That’s the conviction which takes Sherry Anne Weddell around the world seeking to equip lay people to play a leading role in the church’s mission. She's a bestselling author and teacher who's director of the Catherine of Siena Institute, based in Colorado, which encourages ordinary Catholics to become what are described as ‘missionary apostles’. Sherry's been in Wales this week leading a conference of priests and laity, and Roy Jenkins meets her to find out more about her life and work as a lay leader in the Catholic Church.
