The multinational oil giant Shell will pay Nigerian farmers whose land was destroyed by pipeline leaks more than $16m in compensation. We speak to the Dutch division of the NGO Friends of the Earth, which helped to bring the case in the Netherlands. Shell maintains that the payout is not an admission of liability.
Plus, following allegations of an attempted coup in The Gambia this week, we speak to Alagie Saidy-Barrow, who previously took part in an effort to overthrow the country’s former president Yahya Jammeh.
And Akon tells us the Covid-19 pandemic is to blame for delays to his plans to build a futuristic city in Senegal, and says the project will still go ahead.
