It's not just chicks who dig the long ball. All San Francisco Giants fans have surely been thrilled by the team's power display to start the 2023 season. The Giants have hit 15 home runs through their first six games, the most they've ever had to start a season. They've been held down completely in a couple of their losses, but that happens in this crazy game of baseball. It's the big picture that matters more, and the big picture is looking pretty positive for the SF Giants after they completed their first road trip.

The Giants went through two good American League teams, in tough ballparks to pitch, and ended up with a .500 opening road trip. Any team would take that going through the Yankees and White Sox on the road. The Giants' early-season strikeout rate is high, but that should come down as the season goes on. Their walk rate is also among the best in the league, and their barrel rate entering today was second in MLB. That number will surely improve after their five-homer performance today.

Alex Wood wasn't at his best today, just like Logan Webb wasn't at his best yesterday. The Giants' hot-and-cold offense, especially hot in this series, has masked some subpar pitching thus far. But all of this is early season noise, not necessarily something to get too worked up about. But it's hard to fake the kind of power display the Giants have been putting on overall this week. We'll see how well they're able to keep it up moving forward.
