The San Francisco Giants have missed out on yet another superstar in free agency. And it's an absolute nightmare scenario for SF Giants fans everywhere. Today, Shohei Ohtani announced on his personal Instagram that he would be joining the Giants' greatest rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was quickly reported that the deal with Ohtani was for a stunning 10 years and $700 million—albeit with "unprecedented" deferrals that lessen the present day value by an unknown amount, while simultaneously lowering the Dodgers' financial "burden."

The Giants, meanwhile, must pivot in a major way. It's yet another disastrous outcome for a team and its fans that are all too used to this. But there are still some very intriguing free agents out there for the SF Giants to sign. Most notably, 25-year-old Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto feels like a must-sign, but competition will be exceptionally fierce. It remains to be seen if the Giants can salvage their offseason after losing out on another top player—the best in baseball—to their archenemies no less.
