Submit ReviewThe San Francsico Giants' Kyle Harrison is the game's best left-handed pitching prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. Drafted 85th overall in 2020 and signed to an overslot deal, Harrison has impressed from the beginning, but took huge leaps forward in 2022. Harrison led the Minors in strikeout rate and made 18 regular season starts in Double-A in what was his age-20 season. Now, Harrison has a chance to make a real impact in the majors for the SF Giants relatively early in 2023. The demise of the Giants' farm system has seemingly been overblown with the likes of Harrison, Marco Luciano, Casey Schmitt, and others headlining the org's collection of young talent.
Carlos Correa's agent Scott Boras went into some more details about the Correa saga and specifically about the Giants and Mets. Boras essentially gave the Giants a pass, stating that a doctor had given them an opinion on the ankle that was unanticipated. However, Boras faults the Mets for knowing about the Giants' concerns but negotiating a 12-year, $315M deal anyway. And then the Mets ended up balking themselves and offering half of their original deal. Boras also stated that the San Francsico Giants had heavy interest in Brandon Nimmo, who eventually re-signed with the Mets.
The SF Giants were active in the international market as the new signing period recently opened. The Giants signed 23 players in total on the first day they could, including Rayner Arias, who was ranked as the 15th-best international prospect by MLB Pipeline. Arias, who's 16 years old, draws some comparisons to White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez.
