The Giants needed to sweep this series in order to stay in the race. Instead, the Giants were swept by the Padres. For all intents and purposes, the season is over. What a huge disappointment after last year. The SF Giants front office needs to do some serious soul searching in the offseason and avoid having another major letdown in 2023.

The San Francisco Giants’ bullpen is addressed. After leading the majors in ERA last year, the Giants’ bullpen has been one of the worst in baseball in 2022. Bullpens tend to be volatile from year to year, and it’s hurt the Giants this season. Relievers such as Dominic Leone, Tyler Rogers, and Jake McGee took huge steps back from 2021 to 2022.

In recent days and weeks they’ve been auditioning some new arms, and it’ll be important to see how the likes of Alex Young and Scott Alexander perform over the season’s final month. After all, there isn’t much else for the disappointing Giants to play for.
