The UFC returned TONIGHT (April 20th, 2019) with a card brought to us all the way from Russia. So, we had some early morning and afternoon fights to watch here in the states. Featuring, a heavyweight bout between former title contender, Alistair ‘The Demolition Man’ Overeem, with a 44-17-0, 1 NC record against Oleksiy ‘The Boa Constrictor’ Oleinik, with a 57-11-1 record, whose last two wins occurred in Round 1, at the UFC on ESPN+ 7 event on ESPN+ from the Yubileyny Sports Plaza in St. Petersburg, Russia. Also of note on the card was a women’s flyweight bout between Valentina Shevchenko and Bloody Elbow’s own contributing author, Roxanne Modafferi (whom we were all rooting for). The co-main consisted of a lightweight fight, featuring Islam Makhachev, who last fought and won against Bloody Elbow’s own Kajan Johnson, co-host of our Pull No Punches Podcast, up against Arman Tsarukyan, who was coming off a 14-win streak. We had a bout between Devin Clark and Ivan Shtryrkov scheduled as the main event opener, but due to a last minute illness the bout was cancelled, moving Movsar Evloev vs Seung Woo Choi up from the feature Prelims bout to the main event opener. On this episode of the show, Zane Simon and Eddie Mercado of The 6th Round podcast join Flyin’ Brian J to discuss the nights violence and nonsensical post-fight antics.
