They're the first team to do so, and it's the earliest clinch for the Giants in franchise history. They routed the Padres, who were supposed to be the team that made their road to the playoffs nearly impossible. Instead, the Padres have crumbled and the Giants have challenged the Dodgers all season long. Winning the division remains the goal for Gabe Kapler's club, but the accomplishment is absolutely worth celebrating. Buster Posey had a memorable line after the game about how this group has adapted to how the game has to be played now, and he, the other veterans, new players, the coaches, Kapler, and Farnan Zaidi and Scott Harris deserve so much praise.
