This is a not a normal episode. We break from our normal Gender Fluids episode style to spend the entire time talking about experiences Austin and Arielle have recently had with safe spaces, comedy, and the queer community. We sat down to record this a few weeks ago when Austin was told she was no longer welcome to be interviewed on a queer variety show after one of the co-hosts saw her tell two stories during a different show a week prior. Apparently Austin’s “comedic voice” didn’t fit the “values” of the show. After going through the reasons why Austin was told her comedic voice didn’t fit the values of the show Arielle talks about her experience performing on the show even after Austin was asked not to, and delves into her issues with queer safe spaces. Arielle then moves on to talk about her experience of and opinions about queer fragility, which is all tied into a story of her the time she did stand-up for the Mean Boys Podcast. There is no fetish of the week. There is no disgusting sex talk. There aren’t many jokes even. But goddamn y’all there is a lot here you should listen to.  We’ll be back next week with our regular shenanigans.  Don’t forget to show us some love by rating and/or reviewing Gender Fluids on Apple Podcasts. Seriously, don’t be a lazy asshole.  As always your hosts are Austin Smartt and Arielle Isaac Norman.
