The Premier League is back and Rebecca & Alex are here with their hot takes on the opening weekend of the season, after wins for both Liverpool and Chelsea in their first games. Liverpool vs Leeds United was a cracker and, while there is of course caution over reading too much into the first game, we have to discuss Leeds and Bielsa's bold tactics in their 4-3 loss, the defensive errors from both sides, how Mo Salah still seems to be bizarrely underrated, Firmino's role, and maintaining relentlessness this season. Chelsea got the job done against Brighton and it's early days yet, but it wasn't quite the free flowing attacking performance some fans may have hoped for. We chat about Lampard's spending, his tactical nous and in-game management, plus whether it's actually Loftus-Cheek who will suffer from the Havertz signing, rather than Mason Mount. Elsewhere, we chat about how good Everton can actually be this season now that they have a proper midfield, with Allan, Doucouré and James Rodriguez all hitting the ground running in their debuts, as well as praise for Calvert-Lewin and Pickford's performances and the Ancelotti Effect. Tottenham under Mourinho on the other hand looked lethargic and we question whether this Spurs team have the spirit or the smarts to give him what he needs on the pitch, as well as if he's still the manager he once was. We also look at positive performances from Arsenal and Wolves, what we can expect from Sheffield Utd this season, and a brand new feature is introduced which allows Rebecca to make an insane prediction about Lampard, shirt ripping and a very specific tattoo. Plus, defending titles without a defence, Lampard's Spanx, more Harry Kane rants, Martin Keown vs Martin Tyler, hairy handed morons, Mensa and maths, spreadsheet apps, gloryhole analogies, autumn wardrobes, defensive midfielders as Hermione Granger, Duracell & Durex, and revisiting the Twilight saga. **Please take the time to rate and review us on iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts, as it makes it easier for other potential listeners to find us.
