Episode 91 Rosaura BarbosaEighteen year-old Rosaura Barbosa had her entire life ahead of her. The kind, and friendly animal lover thought she had found love when she moved into a Tucson, AZ apartment with her twenty year old boyfriend, Joshua Hilaire. Things quickly took a turn for the worse in their relationship, and before long, Rosaura decided to leave her boyfriend. She made plans to move back in with her parents. Sadly, she would never get the chance to. On May 6, 2018 while she was clearing out her belongings from the apartment, Rosaura was attacked and murdered by Hilaire in a shocking act of domestic violence. Fleeing the murder, he went on the run, and Rosaura's worried family found their beloved Rosaura's body after checking on her. Hilaire quickly turned himself in and was arrested, and eventually pleaded guilty to Rosaura's murder, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The aftermath was understandably a difficult time for Rosaura's family, especially for her mother April. She soon found a way to channel her grief and anger and help others in the process when she started an organization to help victims facing domestic violence. You can learn more about the organization by visiting www.Justice4Rosaura.orgApril discusses the heartbreaking murder of her daughter in this episode. This episode is sponsored by Better Help Online Counseling and Gainful, the personalized nutrition system.
