65 years ago, on July 29th 1954, J. R. R. Tolkien published his first volume in the epic novel The Lord of the Rings. In 2001, the epic fantasy adventure The Fellowship of the Ring, became a film.
Directed by Peter Jackson, what was once referred to as an unfilmable story, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, captured the imagination of the world and paved the way for one of the biggest film franchises to ever be produced. Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential fantasy films ever made, The Fellowship of the Ring defined the genre and introduced the world to Tolkien’s Middle-earth on a scope that had never been undertaken before.
The Dark Lord Sauron is seeking the One Ring. The Ring has found its way to the young hobbit Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood). The fate of Middle-earth hangs in the balance as Frodo and eight companions who form the Fellowship of the Ring begin their journey to Mount Doom in the land of Mordor, the only place where the Ring can be destroyed.
Rewind to where the trilogy began and join Frodo, Gandalf (Ian McKellan), Samwise (Sean Astin), Merry (Dominic Monaghan), Pippin (Billy Boyd), Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Gimli (John Rhys-Davies), Legolas (Orlando Bloom), and Boromir (Sean Bean), in an adventure to rule them all.
