We all thought we had our final farewell to Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang at the conclusion of its third movie. But with a fourth addition to the Toy Story franchise on its way, there is no better time to look back at the original movie which is beloved by multiple generations, kickstarted the major success of Pixar Animated Studios and their relationship with Disney, and changed the game for animated feature films. Pixar’s first feature film and the first ever feature-length film to be entirely computer-animated, Toy Story, directed by John Lasseter, takes us to a world where toys come to life when humans are not present. Their purpose in life – to be there for their child owner. Rewind to 1995, where we first meet Andy’s (John Morris) toys, led by an old-fashioned pull-string cowboy doll named Woody (Tom Hanks), who encounter a new addition to the bedroom – an astronaut action figure named Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen). Woody and Buzz become instant rivals who compete for the affections of Andy. After being accidentally left at a fuel station, the two toys must work together to be reunited with Andy and the rest of Andy’s toys – Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles), Rex (Wallace Shawn), Slinky (Jim Varney), Bo Peep (Annie Potts), and Hamm (John Ratzenberger). To make matters worse Woody and Buzz end up next door, in the hands of Sid (Erik von Detten) who finds pleasure in mutilating, torturing, and destroying toys.
