At the turn of the century what we needed was a movie that deconstructed the superhero genre. The film we got was Unbreakable. Written, produced, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, Unbreakable follows David Dunn (Bruce Willis) who after becoming the sole survivor of a horrific train crash, learns that he processes superhuman powers. With the help of a disabled comic art gallery owner names Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), Dunn explores and confronts his powers whilst trying to navigate difficulties in his family life. With Glass hitting cinemas soon, we rewind to see where it all began - before Glass, before Split, we got Unbreakable.
