The new film review.html">Retrograde is an unflinching portrait of what happened in the nine months after President Biden announced he would withdraw troops from Afghanistan in August 2021. The film follows one Afghan general, Sami Sadat, to tell an emotional story of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Award-winning filmmaker Matt Heineman and his team of Green Berets were there to capture the final months of some 20 years of U.S. involvement in the conflict prior to the fall of Kabul.

When President Biden announced that the U.S. was pulling out, Heineman and his team shifted gears, and embedded with Afghan forces to see what would happen. We speak with Matt about the withdrawal from Kabul.
