The Government came under renewed pressure this week, over the High Court ruling that struck down indefinite detention. It was revealed that the government hasn't used legislation it passed at the end of last year to re-detain any of those released.

And it's been revealed the Attorney General Mark Dreyfus has asked the High Court to rule in another case, that could allow hundreds more detainees to be released. So, why are they doing this?
