On this week’s Regional Roundup; there is a move afoot to ban single-use plastic bags in Philadelphia. We’ll learn about the legislation from STEPHANIE WEIN, from PennEnvironment who helped craft the legislation who’ll tell us why she now opposes the current form of the bill. Then, we’ll talk about the effort to end “period poverty” and new bills in the Pennsylvania legislature to provide free menstrual products in public high schools and some public buildings. We’ll talk with State Senator MARIA COLLETT and Philadelphia activist LYNETTE MEDLEY about why providing more access to tampons and pads is so important. And, we’ll hear about the Philadelphia origins of the ever-controversial candy corn when we speak to PennLive’s JULIA HATMAKER, who also happens to strongly dislike this seasonal confection.
