It's the Friday leading into the Canada Day long weekend and that can only mean one thing — a whole lot of free agency talk. With the Oilers up against the salary cap, Ken Holland will have to get creative if he wants to improve the roster and we try to figure how/if he'll get that done.

To kick off this week's podcast, we looked back at the 2019 NHL Draft and discussed whether or not the Oilers made the right call in taking Philip Broberg at 8th overall. On last week's show, we all predicted with relative certainty that the team would select a forward in that slot but that obviously didn't happen so we weighed the pros and cons of adding another defenceman to the prospect pool. We also looked at Raphael Lavoie going at 38th overall and what to expect from the big kid from Halifax. Getting away from the draft, we got into NHL free agency which kicks off on Monday and that's when things started to get heated. With the Oilers having limited cap space to play with, the boys argued about how the team should spend what they do have and that kicked off one of the better arguments I've heard on this podcast in a while. Basically, the argument came down to whether or not Holland should spend the bulk of his money on a single free agent or if he'd be better served to snap up two or three lesser players to bolster the bottom six. Needless to say, arguing about the Oilers is always a good time and today's episode is ripe with disagreements.
