Losing always stinks, but losing in the fashion that the Arizona State Sun Devils football program lost to the Stanford Cardinal this week is infuriating. In a low-scoring 15-14 final in favor of the Cardinal, the Sun Devils couldn't get anything going. After a quick 14-6 in the first half, Arizona State would get shutout in half number two and lose despite only allowing three more field goals. Stanford wouldn't score a touchdown all day and yet ASU still lost. Was it the ineptitude of the offense? Was it the defense's inability to force shorter drives? Was it coaching? Perhaps it was all of it, but this loss makes it very hard not to point the blame at individuals like Emory Jones.
