Submit ReviewIt’s Friday afternoon and that means a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio is wrapped up, edited into a masterpiece, and here to get you set for the weekend. This week, we looked at reasonable expectations for Dominik Kahun, discussed McNuge being reunited, took guesses on Ethan Bear's next deal, and a whole lot more.
To kick off this week's podcast, we jumped in with a look at the newly signed Dominik Kahun and what would be a reasonable expectation for him in terms of goal production in his first season with the Oilers. Last season, he was on pace for 17 goals with the Penguins and Sabres, so we wondered if it makes sense to expect something similar or bump that number up a touch? From there, we took a way too early look at where Kahun slots into the lineup, and whether or not having him available means that McNuge will be reunited for the bulk of the season. Along those lines, I asked the boys about whether this is the best Oilers top-9 that we've seen around here since the 2017 playoff run, and it's hard to disagree. Sticking with the Oilers, we got an interesting question in this week for the upcoming Monday mailbag which asked whether the goaltending or the defence is the biggest area of concern for the team as they head into 2021, and it was interesting to hear the angles the boys took as they worked through their thoughts on the subject. Regardless of the direction you're leaning, I think it's fair to say that both are areas that will need to take steps forward next season if the Oilers are planning on making any noise in what is likely to be an abbreviated campaign.
