Submit ReviewOn this episode of Plus One Eric talks to bassist, producer, and TV personality Randy Jackson about his musical upbringing in Louisiana and the many reinventions throughout his career. Steeped in the New Orleans jazz scene and growing up performing with local legends, Randy became a decorated session musician who played with superstars like Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, and dozens more.
A chance meeting with visionary producer Tom Dowd changed Randy’s whole perspective on popular music and led him into A&R, producing, and eventually to American Idol. A man who knows how to listen to and make hits, Randy currently manages nine writer/producers and a handful of recording artists, all while running his holistic health company Unify Health Labs, and recording an album with Journey.
Randy and Eric discuss all of that plus their favorite guitarists, the power of New Orleans music, and joining forces on a future project.
