Public sector cuts have put paid to work on a half-built emergency warning system that Cyclone Gabrielle reviews say the country urgently needs. Inquiries into last year's lethal storms show people were let down by the lack of a system to quickly share vital information RNZ can reveal that Land Information NZ has built the datasets of maps and risks already but now dropped a project to find a way to share access to them easily.
