The Porter Peach Festival celebrates the area crop of peaches with a myriad of activities and events perfect for a summer day with the family. Clarksville, a settlement four miles south of present day Porter was the birthplace of Pleasant Porter, who later became chief of the Creek Nation. Incorporated in 1905, the town's name honored Pleasant Porter. By 1907 statehood, there were three banks, two cotton gins and a thriving community with a school and churches.
