On this episode of Comes a Time, Mike and Oteil sit down with comedian Phil Hanley! You’ll hear the guys talk pro wrestling, about how dyslexia shaped Bob Weir’s musical approach, and conquering nerves for a big audition. Phil also talks about how he cut his teeth as a comic at small clubs in Vancouver, his love for the Grateful Dead and how they influence him in his art form, and much more!

Phil Hanley began standup comedy by performing at open mics around Vancouver, often in between bands at music venues.  In these establishments he discovered and honed his unique blending of material and crowd interaction that makes no two of his performances the same. Phil’s style can best be described as unpredictably reflective, delivered with sharp accuracy, and rooted in the grand tradition of joke-telling. He has appeared on numerous talk shows including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers, as well as at many comedy festivals. Phil performs regularly at The Comedy Cellar in New York City.
