However, Ya’akov loved Yosef, the firstborn of his favorite wife, Rochel, more than the rest, and even made for him a special colored coat to signify his fondness. Yosef would also constantly tell his brothers about his dreams, which implied that he would soon rule over them. Yosef's persistent nagging and preferable treatment infuriated his brothers and cause them to hate him with a vengeance. We find out why Ya’akov hoped that Yosef was still alive and refused to be comforted? We learn one of the keys to the Jewish people's survival. Happy Chanukah!
